To operate solely and exclusively as a literary, beneficent, educational and charitable organization having its functions focused specifically on partnership in the Alpha-Sigma chapter of Kappa Sigma at The Ohio State University. The aspects of operation are to provide for the advancement and betterment of educational and leadership programming and projects which are or have been developed by such organizations having as their aim the Alpha-Sigma chapter’s growth and prosperity. Those organizations include the Kappa Sigma Fraternity (National HQ), the Kappa Sigma House Company (Ohio State) as well as the ever-expanding universe of Alpha-Sigma chapter initiates, both active members and alumni.
Samuel G. Swope Business Scholarship (2018 to present)
The Samuel G. “Sam” Swope Business Scholarship was established by the Swope Family Foundation to honor Sam and his outstanding legacy. Sam was founder of Sam Swope Auto Group in Louisville, Kentucky and one of the city’s most respected and influential leaders. After serving in the United States Navy during World War II, he earned a degree in marketing from The Ohio State University in 1949, where he was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Sam opened his first dealership in 1951, dominated the automobile business in Louisville for six decades, and helped better the lives of many, especially children and animals, through his philanthropic efforts. He believed that giving back to the community where he lived was not an obligation, but a privilege. The scholarship perpetuates Sam’s legacy by funding undergraduate business scholarships to members of Kappa Sigma Fraternity at Ohio State.

The Norman J. Tschantz Scholarship (2007 to present)
The Norman J Tschantz Arts & Sciences Scholarship was established by the Tschantz family to honor Brother Norman J Tschantz and his outstanding legacy. Brother Tschantz, a member of the Alpha Sigma Chapter of Kappa Sigma through his initiation in 1925, founded The Tschantz Insurance Agency in 1927 immediately after graduation from the Ohio State University. Norman was known as “the heart and soul” of the company as he truly believed there was no greater calling than the business of providing life insurance. Norman Tschantz had a high level interest in building or enhancing a community through a blend of services to families in order to safeguard their futures. The Norman J Tschantz Arts and Sciences Scholarship is designed to provide college aid to one undergraduate member of the Alpha-Sigma chapter of Kappa Sigma fraternity.
