Swope and Tschantz 2020 Scholarships Awarded

The Alpha-Sigma of Kappa Sigma Education Foundation announced on December 4th, the three active chapter members receiving named scholarships from the Foundation were announced.  Those bothers are:

Sam Swope Business Scholarship:  Brother Jack Gartner (award - $2,500)
Sam Swope Business Scholarship:  Brother Adam Lindberg (award - $2,500)
Norman J. Tschantz Scholarship:  Brother Kevin Junquet (award - $1,200)

The Sam Swope Business Scholarships are the result of the Swope Family Foundation giving a principal donation of $200,000 just over 5 years ago.  This is the 2nd year for awarding Swope Scholarships. One was awarded in 2018, two are given in 2019 and then in 2020 there will be three scholarships awarded.

Jack Gartner is a junior from Cincinnati, Ohio. He is majoring in Finance while also carrying a minor in Disabilities Studies. At the time of his application Brother Gartner had a GPA of 3.85 and plans to graduate in May 2021.  He has been a dedicated active member holding positions such as Grand Master (2019), Grand Procurator (2019), Pledge Education committee (2018) and Pledge Class vice president (2018).  He has Level 2 Ritual proficiency. Jack serves as an accounting tutor through the Fisher College of Business.  Finally, Kappa Sigma National HQ recognized Brother Gartner with the 2019 Herschel Meredith Student Leadership Award (SLA) for 2019.

Adam Lindberg is a junior from Grapevine, Texas. He is majoring in Finance and Real Estate. At the time of his application Brother Lindberg had a GPA of 3.50 and plans to graduate in May 2021. He has been a dedicated active member holding the positions of Kitchen Steward (2018) and Grand Treasure (2019).  Brother Lindberg begins January 2020 as the chapter's Grand Master-elect and will be working with The Ohio State University, the Kappa Sigma House Company and the National HQ District Grand Master and Advisors on maintaining the proper and righteous path Kappa Sigma needs to uphold on campus with Greek Life.

Kevin Junquet is a sophomore from Monroe, New Jersey. He is majoring in Finance. At the time of his application Brother Junquet had a GPA of 3.82 and plans to graduate in May 2022. He was initiated in Spring 2019 and yet Brother Junquet is already making himself known. His record for serving is Alumni Relations Chairman (2019), Rush Chairman (2019) and he'll begin January 2020 as the chapter's Grand Master of Ceremonies.  Brother Junquet is also involved in membership development through OSU and its IFC committee.

In all there were a total of 16 applications for the Swope and Tschantz scholarships with every one of the brothers applying working hard on their scholastics and helping out with Alpha-Sigma chapter of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity duties in some manner.  Kudos and thanks go out to all Brothers who stepped up their game through the Foundation.

Congratulations to these three fine men and brothers.  Please feel free to pass along your congratulations and best wishes for 2020 Spring Semester.
