Homecoming 2018 Recap

Homecoming and 5th Annual Hall of Fame Celebration

Members of the Alpha-Sigma chapter of the Kappa Sigma fraternity shared dinner and brotherhood the night of Friday, October 5.  Over 125 brothers, their wives, family and friends took part in what was the 5th anniversary of the chapter's Hall of Fame.  Seven brothers were inducted.  The Class of 2018 included Chapter Celestial honorees Townsend "TD" VanCamp '58 and Steve Tumblin '67.  Inductees in attendance were Robert Eberhart '58, Rick Benjamin '67, Walt Shuler '75 and Troy Judy 2004 (Dick Schafrath '58 was unable to attend).

Two active members of the fraternity received scholarship presentations from Zack Parkins 2004 who is acting chairman of the Hall of Fame and a director of the Alpha-Sigma of Kappa Sigma Education Foundation.  Current chapter GM - president, Mitchell Poch of Cincinnati, Ohio, was awarded the first-ever Samuel G. Swope Business Scholarship.  Active member Alec Singer of Mason, Ohio, was awarded the Norman J. Tschantz Economics Scholarship which was presented for the first time to a single undergraduate.

Ken Holcomb '78 and 2018 Hall of Fame inductee Walt Shuler '75 made an announcement on progress the Capital Campaign has made through three summer's of restoration and renovation. Both brothers were brimming with confidence that sophomores will be given waivers for their Fall 2019 dorm agreements with The Ohio State University should alumni and parent's giving continue. No figure was given but it appears the Summer of 2019 will require the house director room be completed, the back stairway steps and landings get a make-over along with some additional planning for beds and desks in the South Wing.

GM Mitchell Poch announced the chapter will deliver on its effort to hold the 2nd Military Heroes Ball supporting the Columbus chapter of the Disabled American Veterans. The event is booked at the Ohio State Capitol rotunda room for Saturday, December 1. Check back for details in early November.
