Happy Alpha-Sigma Founders' Day

Dear Brother:

fra·ter·ni·ty
frəˈtərnədē/
noun

1. a group of people sharing a common profession or interests.

March 22, 1895   On this day the Alpha-Sigma chapter of Kappa Sigma was chartered, becoming a student-led organization at The Ohio State University.  The time honored traditions of Kappa Sigma continue to this very day.

Kappa Sigma began in Bologna, Italy in 1400AD.  The fraternity was reborn in Charlottesville, Virginia on December 10, 1869.  Only 26 years passed before the chapter at Ohio State signed on to the traditions of Kappa Sigma.

The Star and Crescent shall not be worn by every man
Only by him who is worthy to wear it.
He must be a gentleman.  A man of honor and courage.
A man of zeal yet humble.  An intelligent man.
A man of truth.  One who tempers action with wisdom.
And above all else, one who walks in the Light of God.

On this day all Kappa Sigma initiates whose membership began in the hallways and rooms of "The House on the Hill" at 1842 Indianola Avenue should heed the call of the fraternity and take pause.  Reflect on the time you shared with other Brothers during your days as a Buckeye undergraduate.  Many Brothers, if not most, have remained friends as a result of their Oath of Brotherhood.  This Kappa Sigma friendship is a good thing worthy of a lifetime of love and attention.

Happy Founders Day to all Alpha-Sigma of Kappa Sigma Brothers!
