PHASE III : RENOVATIONS AND REFURBISHMENT (end of July finish)
- The Kappa Sigma House Company focused capital campaign efforts on the complete overhaul of the two bathrooms in the dorm-style South Wing. This includes work into; (a) library ceiling; (b) Block-O room on 2nd Floor; (c) archway between kitchen serving area and dining/chapter rooms. There have been no surprises found inside the walls or with plumbing. The contractor work has been steady and without incident.
- The “house director room” on main floor will have all new amenities to begin Fall Semester. New shower, sink and toilet are being installed. The room is being entirely overhauled in preparation for another “Check” off the list of Sophomore Housing requirements. The director position giving free “room and board” and description of duties remains unfilled.
- The City of Columbus requirements are being addressed. New iron railings on the front porch are being installed. New kitchen equipment that includes a industrial strength refrigeration system, freezer and consideration to a new ice maker are underway.
- Added with be +100 chairs and +20 tables for members to use in dining and chapter meetings.
PROJECT REBOUND : WEEK OF JULY 31 – AUGUST 5
- A tremendous effort is underway that is designed to put “The House on the Hill” into terrific shape entering the final two weeks of August/Summer before active members return to the chapter house in the latter stages of August. Bros. Bob Weltlich, Ken Holcomb, Bob Meyer and Bill Jones are working together to build a full list of Fix-It-Ups and Clean-It-Ups for actives and alumni to tackle.
- The Main Floor common areas and some of the outside areas are being lined-up for freshening and overhaul. The schedules which require volunteers come in three shifts which are MORNING, MIDDAY and EVENINGS and last about 3.5 hours each.
- All Kappa Sigma men who can set aside day(s) and time(s) to volunteer are needed. It’s early July now and the volunteer list is growing.
- A terrific opportunity for active members to meet and work with alumni of our beloved Alpha-Sigma chapter of Kappa Sigma.
- Throw your AEKDB out to Bob Weltlich that you’ll participate – Do it Today!
