Alpha-Sigma of Kappa Sigma Education Foundation

President - Darryl Niven 
Initiated in January of 1983, Darryl served as Kitchen Steward in 1984, House Manager in 1985, and Pledge Educator in 1986. He joined the Alpha Sigma chapter of Kappa Sigma Hall of Fame Committee in 2018. Darryl graduated in 1986 with a BS in Mechanical Engineering and got his MBA from Michigan State University in 1999. He helped initiate new members when Alpha Sigma was recolonized in 2004. Darryl was an Alumni Advisor for Kappa Sigma at the University of Michigan from 1989 to 1991. He worked at Ford Motor Company for 18 years with positions in Manufacturing and Product Engineering, Business Strategy, Operations Leadership and Business Leadership, including expatriate assignments in London, England and Budapest, Hungary. Currently, he is the Chief Manufacturing Officer for Park-Ohio Corporation in Cleveland, Ohio with 64 manufacturing and 70 supply & distribution facilities worldwide. Darryl has been married to his wife Kelley for over 30 years. She’s a Chi Omega alumna at Ohio State. They have two children, their daughter graduated from Hope College and their son will graduate from Western Michigan University in the spring of 2020.

Vice President - John Hileman
John has had 5 family members become Kappa Sigmas. Initiated in 1978 he followed his father and uncle as an Alpha Sigma at Ohio State. Graduating in 1981 with a B.A. In Political Science he served as Grand Procurator, Scholarship Chairman and House Manager while in school. Receiving the Worley Scholarship award as an undergraduate. Following a successful 40 years in Medical Device Sales he now spends his time giving back to organizations that helped him as a young man.

Treasurer - Doug Kinsey 
Initiated in Spring of 1980. Served as Pledge Educator and Grand Master of Ceremonies in 1982. A recipient of the Henry Worley Scholarship and Leadership Award in 1983. Graduate in the class of 1983 with a B.A. in Political Science. Currently working on a Master’s Degree in Management at Harvard University. Has worked in commercial. Insurance, investment management, financial planning and tax. Past employers include Bower Insurance, Morgan Stanley and Fifth Third Bank. Currently the Partner and founding member of Artifex Financial Group with offices in Columbus, Dayton and Cincinnati, Ohio. Was on the board of the Dayton Art Institute, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Oakwood Rotary Club, A Special Wish Foundation and Wegerzyn Gardens. Doug and his wife, Rebecca, have four children who attend Ohio State University and Ohio University. 

Secretary - Matthew Schilling 
Matt was initiated into the Alpha Sigma chapter of Kappa Sigma in 2004. He served as Grand Master a year later in 2005 and is Alpha Sigma's first master of the ritual. He also served as recruitment chair at the chapter. He graduated from Ohio State in 2008 with a BA in Political Science and Economics. Schilling has worked for the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio for 12 years, is currently the Director of the Office of Public Affairs, and lives in Columbus.   

Board Members

John Hart
Initiated into Alpha Sigma in the fall class of 1980, John served as Pledge Educator in 1981. In 1982, he served as Grand Master of the chapter, achieved ritual proficiency in the same year, and graduated in the spring of 1983. John graduated with a BS in Civil Engineering and is currently the Senior Director of Business Development at Matrix Service Inc., an energy and industrial engineering as well as a construction company based in Houston, Texas. John is also currently Scholarship Chairman for the Ohio State Alumni Club of Houston.

Walt Shuler
Bachelor of Science 1979 from The Ohio State University. Grand Master 1976 - ‘77. Pledge Education 1977 - ‘78. IFC/PHC National Conference treasurer. Alumni advisor to Omicron-Eta chapter at NOVA SE University and assistant alumni advisor to Alpha-Sigma chapter. Additional roles served were president of Kappa Sigma Ohio State alumni association and president, secretary and treasurer of the Alpha-Sigma of Kappa Sigma Education Foundation; chair of Hall of Fame. George Coffey, big brother. Lois McHenry, little sister. Employed by HNS Sports Group (Dublin, OH), oversight of the Play Yellow campaign serving under Jack and Barbara Nicklaus.

Bill Yoerger
Bill Yoerger was initiated in 1980 following his father and grandfather into the Alpha Sigma Chapter. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from The Ohio State University and he currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Blue Ridge Associates, the nation's largest administrator of Employee Stock Ownership Plans. With a career spanning over 35 years in the retirement industry, Bill is a nationally recognized thought leader known for his strategic vision and deep industry insights and he has been recognized by Investment Wires as one of the retirement industry’s most influential persons. Before joining Blue Ridge, Bill was with Fisher Investments in their Institutional Group, and he previously served as President of OneAmerica Retirement Services, where he led the organization through significant growth fueled by both sales and acquisitions growing the business from $7 billion to $62 Billion dollars. His strategic acumen and commitment to excellence have earned him a stellar reputation among industry peers. 

Bill is an active member of several prestigious industry associations, including the ESOP Association, the National Association of Plan Advisors (NAPA), ASPPA, and SPARK. He also brings valuable governance experience, having served as the former Board Chair of Noble of Indiana, and as a member and Chair of the LIMRA Retirement Committee. He has contributed to the board of the SPARK Institute, further underscoring his commitment to advancing the retirement industry.
